When it comes to monitors, people are either really choosy or don’t care. You’re either among those that want IPS and HDMI connections, or you’re simply searching for something “that looks pretty beautiful” to use for video games and the such. It’s uncommon for people to fall someplace in the middle, but it’s not impossible. If you fall into the former category rather than the latter, the LG 19-Inch 19MB15T-I IPS Touch Monitor is probably for you.
The monitor is all about touching, as the name indicates. It’s also optimized for Windows 8, although I’m still caught in the Windows 7 era, so there are a few details I overlooked throughout my evaluation. I’m expected to get a Windows 8 machine in a couple weeks — I’m not sure how I feel about this — so maybe I’ll come back to the LG 19-Inch 19MB15T-I IPS Touch Monitor later.
Even with Windows 7’s flaws, the touch interface works nicely. My computer is a touch slow, which is an unfortunate side effect of sorely wanting to update, but my keystrokes using the on-screen keyboard always registered correctly. There was some stumbling while trying to click on links and bookmarks, but it was due to user mistake more than the monitor’s problem. I’ve only ever owned one touchscreen computer, and it’s not like riding a bike in that manner.
One huge issue I’ve always had with touchscreens, and that humans will probably always have, is the smudges left by my fingertips. The only true remedy appears to be cleaning them off on a regular basis, however the LG 19-Inch 19MB15T-I IPS Touch Monitor doesn’t make them very noticeable when in use. The smudges aren’t really evident until you power it down, assuming you’re not attempting to place it at a variety of strange angles. Even then, if you truly care about that sort of thing, it’s only a question of passing a cloth across it.
If that troubles you, avoid using the touch functionality. That’s all there is to it. Without it, it’s still a perfectly adequate display.
The monitor’s 19-inch screen is ideal for viewing videos, playing games, or simply browsing the Internet. IPS is a great improvement, and I had no significant difficulties with ghosting for the length of my evaluation. My typical monitor is a Dell from somewhere around 2009, so my time with the LG 19-Inch 19MB15T-I IPS Touch Monitor seemed a little surreal.
LG 19-Inch 19MB15T-I IPS Touch Monitor is great monitor for general usage as well as Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop editing with good out-of-the-box color reproduction – has not been color calibrated, but color is quite near when looking with printed images. PS4 is also utilized. The control button makes it simple to swap between PC and PS4.
LG 19-Inch 19MB15T-I IPS Touch Monitor Screen
The LG 19-Inch 19MB15T-I IPS Touch Monitor offered outstanding images right away, albeit with slightly muted colors, and was a comfortable monitor to use on first impressions, with clear regions of focus, no pixilation, and a broad contrast ratio helping to provide engaging visuals as usual.
Transitions on the LG 19-Inch 19MB15T-I IPS Touch Monitor display are quite quick, with no judder or stuttering seen while scrolling between photos, the side-scrolling menu panels, or Microsoft’s new Windows 8 software.
Although on-screen content is unaffected, our time with the LG 19-Inch 19MB15T-I IPS Touch Monitor left us with the impression that the display had a slightly coarse coating, with finger swipes often met with slight resistance and a slightly bothersome skip that saw our fingers catch, not slide freely, and judder from the screen.
